HLTV.org Awards will return to Belgrade
Discussions about frontrunners, the show’s specifics, and how the sausage is made abound in this special launch show for the HLTV Awards
This year’s HLTV Awards were unveiled in London after the BLAST Premier Spring Final put an end to the first half of 2024.
Milan “Striker” Švejda, Zvonimir “Professeur” Burazin, Mathieu “Maniac” Quiquerez, and Freya “Freya” Spiers sat down to discuss the event and share some specifics, such as its return to Belgrade, Serbia, after the successful gala at mts Dvorana for 2023, and its date: January 11, 2025.
As we transition into the first full year of Counter-Strike 2 and the changes it comes with it, from budding stars like Danil “donk” Kryshkovets to a new calendar coming in 2025, the 2024 award show will revolve around new beginnings.
Some things don’t change, however, and while donk and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov are currently gunning for player of the year, so is Vitality’s trusty star AWPer, Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut.
Along with the frontrunners for the Player of the Year award, outstanding players in the panel categories were also discussed, and some of the intricacies about how the top 20 is decided were shared.
The show, which runs just over an hour and a half, also includes a sketch featuring statman Harry “NER0” Richards and a clip from the beginning of the season of pro players predicting who will finish in the top three of the year.
